Guess what, it's okay to have feelings. We wouldn't be human without them. God wired us to be emotional, relational and sexual beings, but He also instructed us to rule over our emotions and desires, and not let them rule over us. If you've got a crush on a guy (or a girl), instead of just letting your feelings run wild, take a breath, get some perspective and invite God and His word into the equation.
He's into you one week, but the next weeks he's like, "let's just be friends". He says you're his girlfriend, just don't tell anyone. K. Cool. Thanks. One week it's flowers and phone calls, the next it's dead silence. Literally nothing. Zilch. Nada. Not even a Facebook comment. Listen beautiful, if your relationship feels a bit like a yo-yo it might just be time to cut that string? You deserve a guy that is totally into you, not playing games and dragging you along for the ride.
Relationships with the opposite sex can be tricky. Sometimes our feelings try and stir up something prematurely. Ever bitten into a fruit before the time is ripe? Looks good, feels good, but doesn’t taste right. Gross. Bitter. Leaves a chalky layer on your teeth. You kinda wanna spit it out but that will look awkward in front of other people.
Have you ever wondered why we call it status? I think for many of us that’s exactly what we get out of being in a relationship – status – and if that’s the case then we are in it for the wrong reason! His name was Jake and this relationship catapulted me to popularity. He was the cute boy and “going with” him gave me instant status. This relationship went well for a year until Max decided to tell people about our special night of kisses.
If you yourself are a follower of Jesus this Number 1 (By far)! He can be cute as pie and hotter than Justin Bieber but if he doesn’t love (or even know) Jesus. Stop. (Just stop) This doesn’t mean he’s a bad person. Seriously I know lots of people who aren't "Christians" but they are amazing, fantastic, ridiculously fun people! But when it comes to choosing a boyfriend (who down the track you may want to turn into a life partner) then it is SO important that he's more than a good person.
So for all the singles ladies that have found themselves wondering, "Where the heck is Prince Charming and why is he taking so long?" This is for you. I'm not even gonna pretend I know what you're going through because the truth is, I don't. I was married at 21 and had my first baby at 25. So let me step aside and give the mic to a handful of incredible, capable and downright gorgeous women who are in the same boat as you.
Stop looking for “the one” and start becoming who God wants YOU to be! “Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate.” – Barnett R. Brickier
